firstly just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for your lovely words about my grandma, i really, really appreciate everyone who commented on my last post, it means a lot to me.
time for another instagram update. a lot of these are from various markets i've been to lately, the right hand photo in the top row is of a few things i found while op-shopping the other day; an old mirror, a pretty swan perfume bottle with a gold crown, a bar brooch with a bow on it and a tiny shell shaped glass box. i also bought myself a paul & joe lipgloss (i'm waiting for everything else they make to fall from the sky and into my life without me having to spend any money on it) and my mum surprised me with some wedgewood strawberry tea. i found the prettiest faux fur capelet while op-shopping a couple of weeks ago and i've since found a dark purple one that ties up with a ribbon. purple isn't a colour i normally wear but i love the red one so much i'm sure i'll get some use out of it. i also bought a huge lot of delicate little stack rings that fit on all my knuckles and fingers and they are so pretty!

these are from a few of the shows i've been to recently. kendrick lamar from back in december, morrissey (also from december) and death grips, who were incredible! the second row is from when i saw childish gambino and then met him afterwards and watched him DJ at a secret set he did. i have a huge crush on him, not only because of his music but also, of course, for his role as troy in community, so i was pretty excited about meeting him! the jay-z sticker is on my friend's amp that i noticed when his band played recently, and the quote in the next photo is on the inner sleeve of gil scott-heron's i'm new here on vinyl.
the carl sagan vinyl is one of the most wonderful things i own - someone made a song out of quotes from his cosmos series and featured stephen hawking in the song as well. honestly if you're into cosmology and astrophysics at all then you should definitely buy a copy of this, it's so so beautiful and i love it so much!! in the bottom row are some second hand magazines i found, all with nick cave on the cover (my lucky day!) and the next photo is from a play i saw as a part of sydney festival called murder that was inspired by the bad seeds' murder ballads. and the last photo is from an office BBQ we had recently that the band alt-j came along to. they were playing a surprise show that night so they came to the BBQ beforehand and then the whole office went to the show, it was a really great night!
the most delicious haloumi sliders and parmesan & truffle fries at one of my favourite restuarants, a car and a selfie from the lady luck festival in katoomba that i went to with my lovely friend amy, a vintage varsity jacket from etsy, some hilarious records that came free with an order, another selfie of my in one of my favourite velvet dresses (another one below of me wearing the same dress in red!), a cute bar i went to last night called soda factory with the best little entrace, a mini cat calendar which was part of my christmas gift from one of my best friends along with my hedgehog paperclip holder, a book on beards (my favourite) and my new diana mini with my old diana f+. my excitement at seeing the hobbit for the first time (i'm a HUGE lord of the rings fan), virgin mojito from christmas, the best cheese pizza from frankie's pizza, some incense and a table full of cool stuff at my friend's house.
pretty dresses in the window at route 66, hedgehog mittens(!), my friend harriet on her birthday about to open her gift from me, my beautiful new dahlia dress, an instax from our work christmas party, the cutest little carousel horse snowglobe that's filled with glitter and plays love me tender that i found op-shopping. some incense and bookmarks and a few other things from katoomba, the cutest kitty dress which was more of my christmas present from the aforementioned babe of a friend, l'eau de chloe for christmas, flowers from my grandma's funeral, the sweetest pink shell shaped vases, my other favourite velvet dress in red, and a shell shaped little dish that i bought at vinnies.
as always, if you like what you see my instagram is also littlehenrylee. :)
Love these instagram pictures so much. I often cringe when I see instagram posts because a lot of photos are over-edited and kitchy, yours are just amazing and so beautiful! I especially love to see your vintage finds. I'm heading to a flea market tomorrow morning and am super excited, despite the impending rain.
ReplyDeleteaww, thank you so much! i tend to spend quite a bit of time editing my instagram photos until i'm happy with them because i can't stand using the regular instagram filters, haha. so i'm glad someone notices it!
DeleteI really need to follow you on instagram, I'm in love with your style and you rock bettie bangs -I miss my fringe :(

ReplyDeleteI always love your instagram posts! Where were the parmesan & truffle fries from? I can't get enough of those! The pizza at Frankie's is surprisingly good, I'm going to go with just plain cheese next time. Trust me to zero in on the food, haha.
ReplyDeletethe fries are from this place called the passage in kings cross, i work right nearby there so i end up there for dinner usually at least once a week, haha. their food is SO GOOD and they have specials on each night of the week, definitely check it out! and the cheese pizza at frankie's is THE BEST! i thought it would just be a regular cheese pizza but it's got balsamic vinegar and little chopped up mushrooms on it - SO GOOD.

ReplyDelete(nevermind its there, I'm an a-hole)
DeleteThat red faux fur capelet looks so dreamy and cozy, and I love the sheer overlay on your Dahlia dress. I've always wanted to try wearing a sheer skirt over one of my pairs of vintage tap shorts (maybe a pair of black velvet ones from the 40's?), but I'm not quite sure I could pull it off!
ReplyDeletei definitely think you could pull it off! velvet shorts with a sheer skirt over the top sounds wonderful!
Deletejust followed your instagram. i love your picturess <3 if i can know, what app did you use to edit your instagram picture? thanks! :)
ReplyDeletexx, riotouslolita
i've downloaded a LOT of apps to edit my photos but i always use VSCO cam and often use ps express and pictureshow and sometimes snapseed as well. i've tried a lot but those are the best!
DeleteAh jealous you went to Morrissey!! omg
