here's my first attempt at making a video! i shot it pretty spur of the moment on my iPhone so unfortunately you won't see any beautiful shallow focus shots since i can't take my DSLR to a festival, but i like how it turned out anyway. it's a video of my day at soundwave festival last weekend. i got to revisit some of my favourite bands from when i was a teenager (yes, i was a raging emo) and my boo harriet and i managed to find our way onto the jaegermeister "elevator" bar too; we bumped into a girl whose friends were running late so she asked if we'd like to go on it with her and of course we said yes! no matter how much time passes it always puts me in a good mood to listen to or see the bands that meant the world to be growing up, so i had a wonderful day!

the music in the video is worm tamer (a place to bury strangers remix) by grinderman from the 12" vinyl single. i only had my holga on me for photos that day so once i get them developed i'll post those too. also, i have been tagged twice now to post seven facts about myself, so although i almost never do things i am "tagged" for, i don't talk about myself that much on this blog so i thought i might as well.

1. music has always been my first love. growing up i couldn’t imagine anything that i would be interested in doing as a career outside of working in the music industry. although i can think of a few other things now, they all involve management of the arts, and my current focus is still on music. i have three jobs, two of which are in the music industry (one for a tour promoter and one for a venue) and i’m hoping to get a “real” full time job in the industry as soon as possible.

2. books are my second love. i’m completely head over heels in love with jack kerouac and all the writers who were involved in the beat generation. i'd give anything to have been able to spend time with them.
3. i have over 35 full sized bottles of perfume – it’s a bit of an obsession.
4. i almost never remember my dreams. i could dream about anything and i wouldn’t have a clue.
5. if i could have lived at any time, it would always, always be the 1950s.
6. baked goods (cakes, slices, biscuits, brownies, pies, etc) are just about my favourite thing in the world. to say i have a sweet tooth is an understatement; all my teeth are sweet teeth.
7. i have always harboured the romantic dream of being a flight attendant, but i’m sure it’s probably not as fun and glamorous as it is in my head.

Glossybox

as you can see, i subscribed to glossybox and received their february box in the mail a few days ago. there seem to be posts about these boxes and similar ones all over the internet lately and it really is a great idea - who doesn't love getting mail and trying out unnecessary (but fun) beauty products for $14.95 a month? anyway i'm sure everyone knows the concept, if you haven't already subscribed to one yourself. this month i was sent:

palmer's skin therapy oil with rosehip fragrance (60ml)
carmex moisture plus lip balm
face of australia mineral lip shine in beach house
a little package of love hearts lollies
star & rose miniature emergency nail files (12 pack)
proactiv deep cleansing wash (60ml)

i'm relatively happy with my first box. the lip shine (halfway between a lip tint and lipstick) was in a sandy gold colour which isn't my thing at all so i've passed it on to my mum, and the lip balm and skin therapy oil aren't super exciting, but they're a decent size and i'm pretty pleased with the proactive cleanser and i love the cute little nail files.

i also managed to get my hands on a bottle of gucci's flora and a gorgeous tokyo milk hand cream. they have such beautiful packaging, it completely sells you on a luxury product like this - there are so many options out there that the way a brand presents itself is a huge part of what makes me want to try it (one of the main reasons why i love soap & glory and benefit). it also just really adds to the pleasure that you get from using it, it makes you feel special and that's exactly what a luxury product should do. the hand cream is kabuki scent which is made up of lychee, sugared grapefruit, sweet jasmine and warm vanilla.

"Summer"

i managed to get a roll of film from my holga developed today. it's super cheap now that all i have to pay for is developing and i can just scan the negatives myself! these are some photos from homebake festival in december and a few more i have taken at different times since then. i'm going to finally start playing with 120mm film now that, again, i'll only have to pay to have it developed and i won't be looking at $25+ a roll. exciting times ahead. i just need it to stop raining so i can go out and do something (other than work)!

me & my beautiful girl giselle who up and moved to melbourne on me! at least there will be plenty of adventures to have when i go and visit her.

Gifts

okay so it's another scattered post from me. most of these things aren't even gifts but i'm not very good with post titles and a lot of my posts lately have just been a collection of photos without any real theme, but i can't call them all the same thing, can i? these sparkly little bad boys set me back $6, and unsurprisingly the quality is to match. although they're super comfortable one of the bows fell off on their second time out, but they're so cute i reattached it so hopefully it'll last longer this time!

my parents came back from japan (thanks for the invite guys...) last friday and brought a few little things home for me - lots of chocolate (chocolate salted popcorn, ohhhh) and lollies, beauty products, tights, a hedgehog tablecloth(!!!), and what we think is a bookmark of the most beautifully sad girl, which i suppose must have reminded my mum of me.

speaking of japan, i have recently discovered the wonderland that is daiso as there's one right near my work. it's a magical little shop where everything is $2.80 (such a sensible price point, right?) and they don't even scan your purchases at the check out, they just count them to get the total! they have just about everything there, including macaron candles and packs of 350 cherry blossom scented incense sticks for $2.80! although i'm under the imperssion that it's actually a dollar store in america which is ridiculous given that the exchange rate is pretty much even between the two. try and figure that one out.

gifts to myself include ridiculous milkshake socks i will probably never be able to co-ordinate with anything, the unbelievably delicious smelling breakfast scrub from soap & glory, a kerouac luggage tag because i'm eternally in love with him, a pretty rose headband (and a MILLION other things not pictured) from asos, a kitty daisy & lewis tote bag and vinyl from their show that i went to on tuesday night (loveeee), and a holga book!

i also went to the harry potter exhibition at the powerhouse museum! we weren't allowed to take photos so of course i don't have any good ones to share (though i may have taken a multitude with my phone). we also weren't allowed to touch anything but i made sure to touch harry's robes! and even though everything way crazy overpriced, i bought myself a bookmark anyway to commemorate the occasion. and finally, the mor marshmallow box was actually a gift as well, from way back at christmas. their packaging is so beautiful!

Family History

a little while ago my nanna (my father's mother) decided that i should have the family's beautiful old camera and all the accessories that came with it. unfortunately i don't think it's still working, but it's a lovely old thing to have and to keep.

my other grandparents on my mother's side also decided they wanted to have all their old slides scanned, and my parents suggested buying a good quality scanner rather than paying someone else to do it. of course, i jumped at the opportunity and offered to scan all the slides if they would pay for the scanner since i have been wanting a really good one for a while but i couldn't justify spending a few hundred dollars on myself for something that's just a hobby. how fortunate that our needs should come together, because the scanner that we bought came with 35mm, 120mm and slide scanning frames(!!) so i'll be able to use it for all my film photography in the future. and of course i am finding great pleasure in going through all the old slides and scanning them when i have some free time.

i haven't even scanned half of the slides yet (there are a lot more than what is pictured), but here are some of my favourite photographs so far! they are mostly my grandparents and my mother and her bother as children. also, might i take this opportunity to say that particularly in the last two photos, my grandma was a babe!

Christmas

i hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and new years! my dad's birthday is christmas eve so we celebrated two days in a row with lots and lots of food. blackberry custard brioche for breakfast and a lovely dinner at my brother's new place where he lives with his girlfriend. we brought lemon meringue and she had made a gingerbread house and my brother roasted a whole chicken (turns out he can cook!) christmas morning we went to my grandparents house for crepes and croissants with some beautiful rose jam my mum gave to me. and then had a huge lunch at home with lots more dessert including a chocolate sponge yule log and a white chocolate mousse and berry tart. my mum and i also assembled hors d'oeuvres of gorgonzola cheese, prosciutto, quince paste and tiny sticky figs and on boxing day i baked rosewater meringues.

Adriano Zumbo

last week mum and i had the pleasure of seeing a live cooking demonstration by adriano zumbo, a famous australian patissier. he's had a lot of attention recently as he's been on masterchef australia (though i haven't seen it because i don't actually watch tv), and i would say also because macarons have become such a popular dessert and he is like the australian answer to pierre herme, who he mentioned as one of his main influences when creating desserts during the demonstration (and whose cookbook i featured in my last post).

he created most parts of the above desserts during the demonstration and he and his assistant served up small portions of the dish pre-made for everyone to try. i wouldn't say i know a lot about the cooking world or about influential chefs/patissiers/bakers, but i'd say he's like peirre herme in that he also mixes sweet and savoury flavours and he's very inventive with his recipes, and of course because they're both famous for their macarons. the first dessert is "what he would leave for santa under the christmas tree" and it comprises pickled carrots, milk custard, orange and carrot gel, orange macarons, and a chocobread and cookies & cream ice-cream sandwich. the second is called "frosty the snowman" and is made up of lychee sorbet, coconut foam, mayonnaise granita and white chocolate and ginger liquid.

it sounds like there's a lot involved in these dishes (and there is!) but when i was eating them i found that each flavour was very distinct and well crafted. of course there's the fear that something with this many components could just blend into a mixture but i could taste each part individually and they all worked so well together, including the mayonnaise granita (however unexpectedly!) though i wasn't such a fan of the pickled carrots. but i was very impressed by all the work that goes into each separate component of the one dessert. i don't know that i'll be trying anything so ambitious myself, but i'll definitely be trying a few things from his cookbook. we also walked away with a lovely gift bag that included a magazine, some chocolate truffles and a little christmas pudding (that my mum ate before i could take a photo!)

Assortment

another post with an assortment of photos, including some (incredibly late photos) of birthday presents from back in october. the tea set that i have received quite a few compliments on was actually my birthday gift from my brother & his girlfriend (i'm sure she was the one that picked it though, haha). and (below) the fragonard perfume was one of my gifts from my parents and the beautiful peirre hermé macaron cookbook was from one of my best friends, giselle. she bought it because we ate his macarons together when we were in europe. he has some of the most interesting flavours, from standard ones like rose and salted caramel to more exotic flavours like violet and blackcurrant, raspberry, red pepper and parmesan and avocado, banana and chocolate. we didn't manage to try any of the sweet/savoury flavours but i'm definitely going to try making some for myself very soon! (probably just the normal flavours though!)

above is the issue of elle girl korea that i was asked to create a mock christmas card for. i feel so lucky to have been featured, especially as it was alongside such talented people as caitlin shearer. but unfortunately i can't read korean so i can't tell how the interview reads! i think the cupcake frosting flavoured/scented air freshener and "mints" are pretty self explanatory! and below is a cute little calendar you can get cheaply with a purchase from typo stationary stores. i don't normally have a calendar hanging on my wall, but this one will look very cute next year.

i've been loving heidi braids lately, especially with these darling little rose pins i bought on ebay. i bought lots of 10 in three different colours so i'm going to be wearing them all summer (when it finally warms up!) i feel like the world needs to collectively decide to push all the seasons a month or two back in our minds because all around the world the concensus seems to be that the weather is more fitting of the season before than the current one. maybe that would fix things so i wouldn't be expecting summer and not getting it! it makes my heart hurt with how much i want it to be warm, i have been waiting so long. my mum's favourite flowers are gardenias so during summer she picks them from our garden and leaves little vases of them sitting around our house so it always smells nice.

as you can see, I MET NICK CAVE!!! we are facebook friends or if you follow me on twitter or instagram you will have already seen my excessive posts concerning this, and now here is my blog post dedicated to it. i'm aware that this isn't particularly relevant to many of my readers, but nick cave is absolutely one of the most beautifully affecting and awe-inspiring people i have ever encountered and i admire him to the ends of the earth, so to meet him was a dream come true (if you hadn't picked up on it already, one of his songs is this blog's namesake). i was literally speechless for a good few minutes after it happened and when i got to work the next day i made sure to tell EVERYONE, i even paged it over the PA system and my friends spent all day reminnding me about it just to make me smile (and gush). ♥

this particular encounter was on thursday night when one of his two bands, grinderman (the other being nick cave & the bad seeds) played a show at a tiny little venue in sydney. i managed to get my DSLR into this show without any problems so i've got a few photos to share, and i also managed to get the setlist which you can see in his hand in the photo above, and his signature on it below. and grinderman played again at homebake festival on saturday which i went to as well (100% just to see them again, haha) where i got the setlist again! (i actually have three now as i got my first one when i saw grinderman play in munich last year). unfortunately i couldn't bring my DSLR into the festival though so i'll have to wait to get the film from my holga developed to post some photos.

and since i've already spent this whole post talking about him, i might as well mention that a couple of weeks ago i also went to straight to you: a nick cave tribute show where a whole bunch of artists got together to cover different nick cave songs. i went on my own and had an amazing time because not only was i in a room filled with other nick cave fans, but they played a whole lot of songs that i probably wouldn't get the chance to hear otherwise because the bads seeds (unfortunately) can't play their entire discography when they perform live. it was a great night, and one cover in particular moved me to tears even though it wasn't him singing it. anyway, i think you all get the point! i just really, really, really love nick cave!

i also bought myself a grinderman tote bag at the show andddd my all time favourite album EVER, let love in, on vinyl! ♥

Tea Time!

the ever lovely paula of pink bow was sweet enough to send me a package in the mail recently (thank you!). two boxes of belgian waffle biscuits in raspberry & vanilla and chocolate flavours, and some lovely kusmi teas and a strawberry lip balm with a pin-up girl on the tin. :) i'm still enjoying the teas but sadly the biscuits are long gone.

Harvest Festival

on sunday i went to the very first harvest festival in sydney and i had a really wonderful day full of great music and great friends. for a festival's first year you might expect a few mishaps here and there, but i'm surpised and pleased to say that it was probably the best festival i have ever been to! i'd have to largely attribute that to a lack of the typical type of festival attendee that i would want to avoid (read: festival douchebags) - the crowd was actually really laid back and respectful and i think that made all the difference. as well as that, the fact that it was smaller than your average festival meant that most people there were there for the music and not simply for the sake of being at a festival.

musical highlights of the day include watching the national from the front row (and shedding more than a few tears while doing so), and their singer matt berninger finishing the set by disappearing into the crowd; i was hoping he'd come back to the stage in my direction when their final song ended (terrible love) but the microphone came back and he didn't. i loved finally seeing bright eyes (also from the front row) after years of being a fan - road to joy was my favourite of the set, and watching kevin devine first thing in the morning who i love and who i really think deserved a later slot. i also had the chance to check out a lot of acts that i hadn't really listened to before, the most impressive of which were the flaming lips for their incredible stage show which included huge balloons and ridiculous amounts of confetti and the singer crowdsurfing inside a giant bubble! and portishead who i have never heard before but who were truly amazing to see live.

i also had a good chance to use my diana F+ and my holga 135BC, which all of these photos were taken on. :)

Vinyl

if you follow me on twitter you may have already seen the record player that i bought at an estate auction in my street a few weeks ago. i got a huge stack of records along with it, although most of them are soundtracks to old musicals and aren't really what i'd normally listen to, but they do have lovely covers! prior to finding it i was using my dad's old record player that i recovered from my nanna's house while still in high school. i had a small collection of records that i mostly found in op-shops and i listened to them pretty infrequently until two or three months ago when something came over me and i all of a sudden i HAD to start buying them.

i was and still am fully aware that it's an expensive and unnecessary hobby that i didn't need to undertake, but here i am! naturally it has become imperative that i collect everything related to nick cave that i can get my hands on, so at the moment out of 26 nick cave and the bad seeds singles i have bought 20 of them (some are still yet to arrive in the mail) and i'm only one single away from having everything grinderman have put out thus far. unfortunately i haven't bought any bad seeds LPs yet because my favourites go for at least $100+ each and some of the more rare ones can be upwards of $500! i haven't gone that crazy yet, but if anyone happens across a copy of let love in, the boatman's call, murder ballads, or the lyre of orpheus/abattoir blues please send them my way!! (seriously)!

despite one of my jobs being in a store that sells CDs, i haven't bought them in years, so now that i'm buying vinyl i'm finding it lovely to connect with the music a bit more by having something physical, even if it means spending money on it. and of course the artwork on the sleeves and exciting extras like coloured vinyl (clear, silver, rainbow, glittery red), picture discs and gatefold covers make it that much more fun! and there is also the joy of finding something great for very little money (one of my best non-internet finds so far has been N.W.A's straight outta compton that i got from an op-shop for $1)!

Engagement Rings

for my birthday recently my grandmother decided to give me three rings and a brooch. the sapphire and diamond ring is her engagement ring, the diamond ring and diamond brooch were her mother's and the gold band was her grandmother's. so she passed three generations of wedding rings down to me. i'm sure you all understand how special this is without me even needing to add anything extra. they are the most beautiful rings i've ever seen and they fit me perfectly. now, to find a husband!

Sydney Rock N Roll & Alternative Market

recently some friends and i went to the sydney alternative & rock n roll markets in tempe. to my knowledge the markets have been running on and off for a while now, but the september market is the first one i'd been to. it's a monthly event and the september date was run as a part of the sydney fringe festival. although i didn't buy anything at the markets, i had a great time looking at all the beautiful things for sale, and of course the beautifully dressed men and women! i'm definitely looking forward to the october markets if i manage to get the day off work! and for those interested i'm wearing a lovely little dahlia dress i bought on asos, and harriet is wearing my cherry print dress, also from asos.

Birthday

for my birthday this year my mum and i went shopping in the city and had a lovely high tea at the queen victoria building tea room. if you know anything about me, it's that baked goods are just about my favourite thing in the whole world, so we stopped off for macarons and a hot chocolate at the lindt cafe with my dad before doing a bit of shopping and then heading to the QVB for our high tea.

i drank rose petal tea and feasted on finger sandwiches, warm spinach and cheese pastries, the most delicate little fruit flans, opera cake, huge scones with jam and cream, passionfruit melting moments, lemon curd cake and more macarons. and i wore a beautiful rose printed 50s style dress that my mum gave me that morning and spent the whole day being complimented by shop assistants and feeling like i'd walked right out of a caitlin shearer painting. :)

we followed high tea with more shopping and then my family and i went to a lovely french restaurant for dinner and i had a delicious ricotta and tomato tart, seafood risotto and petit fours for dessert (as if i hadn't been eating dessert all day!)

Brand New Shoes

as you can see, i have two beautiful new pairs of shoes! the first is a pair i have been lusting after for the longest time, but having never seen them in real life until just recently, i could never justify spending that much money on shoes that i couldn't try on first. i'd hate to order them over the internet only to have them not fit. but they caught my eye inside a shop while i was walking past one day and i recognised them immediately and had to go in and try them on! i wouldn't really call myself a shoe person, but is the one pair that i had had my eye on, so i'm really happy to finally own them!

the second pair are some lovely patent leather oxfords that i desperately needed after my last pair fell apart from so much wear over the last few years. i'm surprised they lasted that long in the first place actually, since they were only a cheap pair, but these new ones are much nicer anyway so i'm happy to have said goodbye. unsurprisingly, my favourite part (aside from them being patent) is the fact that the shoelace is a pretty ribbon! the perfect touch. :)

50s Fair Part II

i'm not sure how, but time always slips away from me and before i know it it's been over a week since i've updated my blog or looked at & commented on anyone elses! all of my time these days seems to be taken up by work, socialising or internet shopping (BAD!) and so my blog and my flickr tend to get neglected. so for that i apologise. as always, i will try and do better!

for some unjustifiable reason (aside from their gorgeous packaging!) i have recently become obsessed with the beauty brand benefit and their entire range of products to the point where i've spent hours browsing ebay for the best prices! fortunately i've managed to come away with sample sizes of just about everything as well as several full sized products. i think it's been the perfect way to test their products because several of them come in the one pack and you can get the justine case or valley of the stars kits for only a few pound on eBay (i've found that the UK site has the cheapest prices even when you factor in shipping). i'd have to say that my favourite product thus far is the benetint lip & cheek stain which you can (sort of) see me wearing in the following poorly lit photobooth photos.

i'm also rocking some sweet victory rolls that my gorgeous friend harriet did for me on saturday night. :) better pictures of my hair here & here.

i've had a bit of a thing for the brand soap & glory for a couple of years ever since hearing that some of their products, particularly the righteous body butter, smell exactly like my favourite perfume, miss dior cherie. i bought myself a small body butter while i was in europe last year and a full size one from sephora while in singapore earlier this year and love it! so of course i bought a few soap & glory products from eBay as well - i particularly love the hand food hand cream which smells just like miss dior cherie as well. and as a side note i really, really dislike the fact that asos won't ship their products internationally! :(

and again, on eBay, i decided to treat myself to some new lip balms as lip products have always been my weakness. i loved the smell of the smiths minted rose salve that i bought myself on my stopover in taipei on the way home from london last year so i decided to track down the rosebud salve and the lovely strawberry lip balm of the same brand. they're not particularly cheap but the tins are beautiful and they will last you forever! definitely worth it if you've got the cash to spare.

Lingerie Part 2 & Tarot

a bit of a mixture here but i thought each set of photos wasn't enough to warrant its own post so i've combined them. first is another lot of pretty underwear that i've bought from asos recently because i can't keep myself away from their lingerie section! my favourite is the lovely bullet bra!

and now here are two beautiful books i was given on tarot cards from a man at a salvation army store. i was just browsing and he asked if i was interested in magic (which was a bit of a weird question) because he had these books and he wasn't allowed to sell them, so he gave them to me! it really made my day. :)

Berrima

last weekend my family and i drove interstate to celebrate my uncle's 60th birthday and along the way we stopped off in the small country town of berrima for brunch. i shot a roll of film there and in surprisingly timely fashion i got it developed earlier this week, so here they are! they've got a lovely lolly shop and a tea shop and a beautiful big antique store that i visited with my friend when we happened to be there there a few weeks ago, but unfortunately i didn't have time to photograph it while i was there this time. one day!

i got several rolls of 35mm film developed the other day including one from my diana f+ that i used with a 35mm back so i thought i'd post that roll first, and since it's in the same vein i figured i'd also include some recent polaroid/instax and other non-DSLR photos as well. :)

i think i need a fair bit more practice with it, or at least an opportunity to take it out during the daytime to get the hang of it because it's a lot harder to get the exposure right at night time, but i do love it and hopefully i'll get a lot more use out of it over summer! and here are some other random photos i wouldn't otherwise post separately - i haven't had time to take proper photos of any outfits lately, so these will have to suffice!

i know every girl and her blog has a crush on sofia coppola and kirsten dunst, but that doesn't mean i am any less infatuated. a couple of months ago i treated myself to the coffee table book companion to the film and it's filled with stills from all of my favourite scenes. i never really buy coffee table books or any books just for the photographs, but this was one i had to have!

50s Fair

firstly i must apologise for having been MIA for the past few weeks. my work and social life have been out of control busy and i just haven't had time for the internet. fortunately, my work life has slowed down and this means that i have a healthy backlog of photos to share, so you can expect a fair amount of activity from me in the near future!

last weekend i went to the 50s fair at rose seidler house with two of my beautiful friends. despite my friend's car breaking down, we managed to make it there for a few hours and left just as it started raining, so luckily my beehive stayed intact! (i know it's really more of a 60s hairstyle, but what can you do). i had a really wonderful time, and not to mention everyone there was so well dressed and good looking!

i didn't have a lot of money to spare and the vintage clothes were well out of my price range, but i did walk away with the lovely little camera purse and a cute paper fold up car - the three of us bought one each. :)

it's pretty difficult for me to find bras in my size, and when i do they're usually very expensive. but i managed to pick these up (plus a few more that haven't arrived yet) from asos very cheaply the other week! as well as several pairs of underwear and a garter belt just because i felt like spoiling myself. :) so if you often have trouble finding bras that fit you i'd recommend taking a look at the underwear section of asos because they've got a huge range and you'd definitely be able to find something you like there.

my real life has been so busy lately i've hardly had time for blogging (or anything else for that matter), but i've finally got a day off today and of course i'm sick. i guess it's better than being sick at work though! so hopefully this day of rest will do me some good and i'll be feeling a bit better by tomorrow.

as always i find myself falling behind with the blogging/internet world because my real life is so busy these days. but last tuesday night some friends and i got together for a harry potter party before going to see harry potter & the deathly hallows part one at the cinemas at 9pm and the deathly hallows part two at the midnight screening. not everyone dressed in costume (i went as dolores umbridge but didn't manage to get any flattering photos of myself so i'm just not posting any) so i've only got photos of the ones who did, but we all had an amazing night!

before we went to the screening of part one we all got together and watched harry potter parodies on youtube, answered questions from a harry potter quiz book and listened to the soundtracks while, of course, eating all the amazing harry related food my friends made! including pumpkin pasties, cauldron cakes (filed with caramel sauce and chocolate mousse), liquorice wands, acid pops, cockroach clusters, every flavour beans and chocolate frogs. clearly i have the coolest friends in the whole world and we had the best night together. :)

so i know in the photo it looks like my jumper is really dirty, but it's actually just really worn out, which is what i get for buying it from an op-shop anyway. it's not a problem for me, i actually quite like the fact that it has holes, but i just wanted to be clear on the fact that it's my white blouse showing through the jumper in the photos and not a whole lot of stains, haha.

the khaki over the knee socks and the black scalloped shorts are both part of my recent asos order. i also got the most adorable playsuit that i am SO happy with and a great pair of high waisted denim shorts along with a handful of other things. i was so happy with my order that i placed another order a few days later, but sadly that one hasn't arrived yet.

last night i went to the midnight screening of harry potter and the deathly hallows part two (and a 9pm screening of part one just before!) so as soon as i get some time to edit the photos i'll post them. my friends and i had a harry party before we went to the movies and dressed up and ate a whole lot of harry related food. it was AMAZING.

we are currently puppy sitting this little guy. his name is monty and we've been minding him regularly for a few years now. his real owners are currently overseas somewhere warm and i'm very jealous, but at least i get a cute little puppy to play with while they're gone.

the lovely doolittle magazine has used my photo from the diana world tour exhibition in their magazine and they kindly sent me a copy of it. if only i could read french! but it's the first time one of my photo has appeared in a printed magazine so it's quite exciting for me!

i also treated myself to a copy of nick cave's king ink (as well as about 30 other books... oops!) because i found an affordable copy online (i.e. one that was considerably less than the $300 that it can go up to on amazon). if you're not a nick cave fan you probably won't know it, but the name of this blog is from a nick cave & the bad seeds song and king ink is a collection of some of his lyrics, poems and short plays.

what i wore to work on saturday. it was super busy as it always is on weekends, but i did have free muffins for breakfast so i ended up having a pretty good day. :)

i also ordered a whole bunch of stuff in the asos sale. i can't wait til my package arrives!

last week i went with a few friends to see hairspray at the lyric theatre in darling harbour. as you can see, i did my hair in a beehive for the occasion. i had a great night and i loved seeing the musical. lots of guys with super attractive hair and lots of girls with super cute dresses - right up my alley! though obviously i couldn't take photos of the actual production so i recommend that you go and see it for yourself if you live in sydney. we also went to pancakes on the rocks before the show - dessert/breakfast for dinner, what more could you ask for?

i also spent the best part of today tweaking my blog and trying to figure out the best way to follow other blogs and keep in touch with people on here. i've been using google reader to keep track of the blogs i read for a while now, but i'm considering making the move to bloglovin' since a lot of people seem to use it. hmm.

i hate winter! but at least i have a warm new cardigan to wear. the brooch was given to me by my mum who received it as a gift from my dad before they were married. and the shirt is one that i bought a couple of years ago from vinnies.

i'm not really sure what i want this blog to be just yet. i guess i'll just see how things go.

so i thought that since my copy of the newest issue of lula arrived in my letterbox this morning it would be a fitting first post for this blog. it's by far the most beautiful magazine i've ever read and i genuinely look forward to every issue! they have the most perfect editorials and the photos and fashion are exactly my taste.

i really miss europe. i miss travelling and being in a new place every day and having beautiful, inspiring things to take photos of. i am so bored with sydney. new york is calling me, it's only a matter of time.
