Make Up Crazy

korres lip butter in pomegranate, bobbi brown orange rich colour gloss, too faced eyeshadow in deep space, maybelline moisture extreme lipstick in peach colada, maybelline mineral powder blush in true peach, revlon super lustrous lipstick in toast of new york, revlon just bitten stain & balm, stila lip glaze stick in orange, korres mascara, origins pinch your cheeks tint in coralberry

i don't know what it is, i can't explain it, but some sort of beauty obsessed demon must have possessed me in the last few months because i have gone make up CRAZY. i'm fully aware that i could have continued my life without buying any of these things, they're completely unnecessary and haven't enriched me as a person in any meaningful way, but it's just become so much fun. i've always had an obsession with lip products; glosses, balms, stains, lipsticks, all of it. but i've suddenly found myself totally infatuated with blushes (especially coral shades) and have spent hours poring over cosmetics websites trying to find the cheapest deals on products my new favourite youtube beauty bloggers have recommended.

this post isn't anywhere near all my recent purchases, after discovering a whole host of affordable websites and one hell of a priceline sale (40% off all cosmetics, be still my beating heart) i have quickly amassed a pretty decent collection of both drugstore and some high end products. probably not by beauty blogger standards but i think my demon is satiated for now. i'll also just note that apart from the priceline sale almost everything else i've bought has been online. make up in australia is pretty expensive so i definitely haven't paid full price (what i would be paying in a shop here) for probably anything i've bought. i may like to buy things but i'm smart with my money and i'd happily spend an hour or two online looking around for a bargain than go to the shops and pay full price - not that anyone's opinion of my financial situation is even vaguely interesting to me, but just so you know i don't drop $45 on a high end lipstick every other day.

i figured i'd do the beauty blogger thing and write little reviews while i'm at it, after all there's no point in just looking, if i were reading this i'd rather know if they're any good or not. the too faced eyeshadow in deep space was completely unnecessary as i hardly even wear eyeshadow but isn't it the prettiest thing you've ever seen?! it's navy blue and white with a pale blue shimmer throughout. i don't even know where to begin with blue eyeshadow (i'm going to have to look up some youtube tutorials) but for now it was worth buying just to look at!

i'd never used anything like the stila glaze stick before but it's a lightly pigmented lipgloss in crayon form. i don't know who thinks of these things but i quite like using it and it's a good quality product that i'd probably buy again. unfortunately i was really disappointed with the revlon lip stain, i found that it barely pigmented my lips at all and didn't go on evenly or really look all that nice. if you're after a lipstick alternative skip the balm stain and go for the revlon lip butters, they are amazing! the two lipsticks were a bit of a chance and neither of them turned out to be what i expected. the revlon one is a lot more brown than i would normally wear but i think if i wore it with an orangey lipgloss over the top it'll come out more of a deep coral. the maybelline peach colada lipstick is really sheer and a lot more like a lipgloss than a lipstick and it's also a bit too glittery for my tastes. the bobbi brown lipgloss is really lovely, i was hoping it would be more pigmented it but smells great, isn't too sticky on the lips and isn't glittery, despite looking like it is in the tube.

nars blush/highlighter duo in albatross and orgasm

stila glaze lip liners bought in a pack of 8

korres lip butters in pomegranate, jasmine and guava, and above korres liquid lipstick in raspberry and lip butter glaze in jasmine

of course being newly blush obsessed one of my first purchases had to be nars' orgasm. i'm know they have lots of other beautiful shades and this is by far the most hyped, but i thought it'd be a good place to start, and it's in a duo with a gorgeous highlighter so what's not to love? i haven't had much of a chance to use the stila lip liners but they came in a pack of 8 and i think almost all of the colours will suit me so i've managed to buy all the lip liner i'll ever need in one go. the korres lip butters are fantastic, they're lightly pigmented and lightly fraganced and feel so lovely on, i started out with just pomegranate and had to buy a few more!

i know there can be problems with buying online, the most irritating one being when you receive a product you thought would suit you and then finding that in real life it looks terrible on your skintone or that the quality isn't up to scratch. i know it's not foolproof because every person and their skin is different, but to minimise the risk, i'll look up just about everything i buy on makeupalley first and read the reviews and check the product rating. if you're worried something is going to be cheap and nasty have a look and if it has 100+ positive reviews and a 4.6 on makeupalley, it's probably worth buying! i also try and google swatches so i can get an idea of whether or not the colour will suit me before i part with my money. everything in this post was bought from all cosmetics wholesale which is one of the best stores i've come across. their shipping is quite expensive but if you average it out across the number of products you're buying it only adds a few dollars to their very affordable prices so i'll definitely be buying from there again.

  1. I'm not really a makeup person, but all the things you bought look so pretty!!

  2. When you said you'd gone makeup crazy, I didn't think this crazy! Haha. Don't worry, I am known for consuming an unhealthy amount of beauty products! It's unexplainable. There's just some sort of thrill from buying makeup that is so different from clothing!

The prices we pay in Australia for anything beauty related is just ridiculous and makes my heart bleed. Fortunately, for me, I get staff discount working at Myer, which eases the pain just a little! One day, I can't wait to go to the US and just go absolutely mental in Sephora with their insanely cheap prices! Some stuff I buy in store, but most of the time, I choose to shop online too. StrawberryNet is really good for makeup and Cosme-de is really good for skincare. They're based in Hong Kong, so super cheap, but all authentic too! Makeupalley has been an online shopping saviour as has YouTube beauty gurus. I can't even think of a product that I've bought and been disappointed by because of them!

You bought so many lovely goodies! I looove Korres Lip Butters! I only have the mango one, but I really want the plum one too. NARS Orgasm blush has been one of my favourites for years. It must've been the first NARS product I bought when I was getting into high end makeup. Stila is still a brand I haven't tried yet, but I've heard so many great things about. That Too Faced eyeshadow is so super pretty! It reminds me of outer space! You'll have to get Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance next to apply underneath it so it doesn't crease and lasts all day! It's the best eye primer, in my opinion. :) Investing in good brushes is good too! The Real Techniques ones are pretty affordable, but they're amazing quality! You can get them from Priceline and they're made by Sam from Pixiwoo on YouTube!

    1. i'm definitely going to have to check out cosme-de! i've bought from strawberry net before but i'll generally scour ALL the websites i can find and make sure i'm getting the cheapest price including shipping, haha. i'm stingy like that but it pays off!

i really want the plum lip butter as well but i think i have enough for now, haha. and i've bought a wholeee lot of the real techniques brushes, they were one of the first things i started buying because i was sick of applying my make up with my fingers and crappy old brushes i already had and they have been THE BEST investment. and they're really cheap too, i'm so glad i bought them!

  3. Oh, and I forgot, I wanted to ask about your job! I think it's so cool how you work in the music industry! I'm so jealous. I can't wait to be out of retail (except I don't want to say goodbye to my discount card!) and doing something I love. I've been a fan of Strange Talk for a couple of years now and I'm so happy they finally release an LP! Anyway, what exactly do you do and how did you get your job? I've actually applied for an internship with a music social media company called Jaden Social based in Sydney! I had an interview on Skype and it seems like such an incredible opportunity and industry to get into. I do love my music too. :)

    1. good luck with the job interview! to be honest it took a long time for me to finally get a job in the industry, it's really not easy to break into and i did a lot of internships at different places before actually getting hired! i work for a booking agency for a whole bunch of bands/artists. i'm not actually an agent there i do accounts because that was the position they had available but they do like to train future agents in all different areas of the business so it's good to learn more about things from where i am and see where it takes me. :)

    1. it is super expensive! this is the first nars thing i've bought and i though i might as well get one of their highest rated and most hyped products because if anything was going to prove the value of the brand to me it would be this and i'm really happy with it!

  5. Since watching beauty videos on YouTube, I have done exactly the same thing - I am convincing myself I need that foundations, Blush (Nars orgasm aswell ha) and that my skin would be so much nicer with that expensive face mask slathered over it! Ha x

  10. There is this huge thing going on with bloggers I follow and then they just go all out on beauty products that I don't know anything about. And now after reading this, I feel like I really want to get myself a good haul and explore the magical world of make up, instead of my standard bb cream, lipstick, eyeliner and mascara. Too bad I'm broke. But I really like your beauty-blogger-side! :D

  11. Ohh you are an absolute doll for sharing these great makeup websites!!! I LOVE makeup, although as you know I am terribly conservative with mine. However, I love buying new makeup and just hoarding it hehe...I actually have a huge stash but am too scared to experiment! I really want to try that certain NARS blush...although I will probably go beet red if I have to buy it in person and request it at the makeup counter :P I plan on doing a big makeup shop when I'm going through duty free to stock up on MAC and hopefully try NARS, since we really do pay too much for makeup in Australia...
One brand I am LOVING at the moment is Illamasqua! Their blush is amazing and so is their lipstick. And the price is very fair considering the high quality.

    1. i've heard a lot about illamasqua too! i haven't bought anything of theirs yet but it's definitely on my list of things to keep an eye out for. duty free isn't always the absolute cheapest but it's definitely a lot cheaper than in the shops and it's great if you prefer to shop for make up in person and make sure you can test out all the colours properly. i've had a few bad experiences with buying some make up online and the colours just not turning out to be what i wanted but i guess that's the risk you take!

  12. Haha I can't say I'm as makeup crazy as you are! I do know that makeup here is ridiculously overpriced though. My friends are shameless, they'll go sample makeup in Myer or David Jones and buy the item off the internet, and you can't blame them!

  13. cool, seems like you are a make up experts, I don't really understand about them. hehe.
by the way, what is that that looks like galaxy?

  14. I'm the exact same way. Every now and then I get bit by the beauty bug and start hoarding makeup. It's so funny! Lovely finds. Those lip butters look amazing!

  15. Oh my worrrrrd! So much make up! I'd spread it out across the bed and roll around in it, haha! Make up heaven!

The swirls in the eyeshadow makes it look like the galaxy.

Totes agree with MUA, I LOVE that website, some very thorough reviews on there.

  16. i've been sucked in makeup obsession too, i blame lisa eldridge. over the last year or so, my make up bag has increased by 300%, its crazy and i'm totally weak. i have one of those revlon lip stains as well; you're right, i agree it's really not good but i keep the one i have (twilight i think) because the colour brightens my complexion. dont know why, wish i'd understand something about the complementary colour theory x

  17. I have been totally obsessed with makeup recently too! I lvoe the look of those lip crayons - lipstick is my obsession so can't wait to try one out soon!

  18. I totally know how you feel! I have periods and periods, in which I get obsessed with things like makeup or clothes or certain styles and I go crazy if I don't satisfy the craving! I had the same eyeshadow from Too Faced, it works wonders if you combine it with white in the inner corner and half of your lid and mix the blue in the crease! Too bad my brother dropped it on the floor and it broke :(

    Lots of love,

  20. Wow! You have amassed quite a collection! I can totally relate when you say you must have been possessed by a demon haha - catching the "beauty bug" is a bit like that. It can blow up out of nowhere and take on a life of its own. Three years ago I wore the same 2 products everyday and nothing else and now I have a dresser full of products and I only want more!

The NARS duo you bought is a great choice! I love both of those products, especially Albatross. The Two-faced eyeshadow is also really gorgeous - you could try running it along your lower lash line?
