Perfect Dress #4 - Ava Adore

dress: c/o dahlia | jumper: target | belt: vintage | shoes & hat: rubi

let's be honest, when dahlia offered to send me one of their dresses i jumped at the chance. i find really transparent advertising in blog posts as unwelcome as the next person, so i wouldn't have accepted the offer if i didn't think it was relevant to me or my blog. but because it's a brand that i have loved for years and from whom i own at least 5 pieces that i've bought myself, i was thrilled! in fact i'd already written my previous post dedicated to this dahlia dress before i was even approached by the brand.

i thought this dress was quite brave for me, it has a lot of detail so i found that the best way to wear it is to keep it as simple as possible. i love the gold buttons and the scalloping and lace, and of course the fringing! it's like a really feminine cowgirl dress, which is right up my alley! i have a serious weakness for cowboy shirts and western themed clothing so this dress is no exception.

  2. I agree that advertising in blogland is great if the brand suits the blog. This dress is lovely. I adore the fringe detail. :)

  15. You look so lovely! You're style is so retro, quirky and girly, I love it. :) I'd never think to shop in Rubi, but that hat and those shoes are so cute. I've been wanting a bowler hat for ages and I ended up buying a cheap one from eBay. I've never been a hat wearer, but it's never too late to try. :) Your outfit posts are always so gorgeous! I'm still trying to master vertical outfit photos. I have to use a different lens because the 50mm f/1.8 is too zoomed in and I should probably invest in a more stable tripod, haha.

    1. haha yeah, i can't justify paying full price for anything from rubi because the quality isn't really there but they are so quick to jump on trends it's the easiest place to find cute shoes when you've been after something you've seen all over the internet (i.e. chelsea boots with gold buckle detail).

  17. OH my, the detailing on this one is really impressive, I especially love the fringes! I'm a huge Dahlia fan myself but sadly I'm raising money for my trip to Japan so I can't afford indulging in shopping. Either way, the dress looks stunning on you! I'm sorry for the lack of comments recently, I've had some crazy weeks! I promise I'll stalk your lovely blog this weekend! :3

    Lots of love,

  18. This dress has it all! Dainty lace, cute buttons and collar - and a fringy cowgirl hem!!! How awesome is that?! Your jumper and hat give this cute Western style dress such a cool rock n roll twist and it all just comes together perfectly. Also, I'd like to just mention how perfect I think your winged liner is! It suits you perfectly, I am very jealous of the way all you gorgeous blue eyed girls look with it :)

  20. Totes agree on the advertising front. I've noticed several bloggers advertising a brand that is not relevant to them or their readers. It's good that you're sticking with a brand that you actually like!

The dress is beautiful. Lots of little details going on, the laces, collar and the buttons!

    You look gorgeous :)

  23. Oh Dahlia stuff is lovely! unfortunately when buying new I always think ''hmm...for that price I could snatch a 40s dress on ebay'', then i end up buying crazy vintage that requires dry cleaning and ironing and mending and that i never wear...it's good to have new staples that you can simply hang dry and throw on.
