In My Secret Life

Apparently I used to post more lifestyle-ish content and things that aren't 100% beauty related and I wanted to bring some of that back, so I thought I'd just do a roundup style post of things I've been up to and into lately.

Aesthetics

as a result of being cooped up in the house for the best part of a week under doctor's orders, i finally snapped yesterday and spent hours colour coordinating my bedroom. i'm one of those people that feels like there's always something i could or should be doing. not that i necessarily do it - i've been known to take weeks to do the most basic things necessary to be considered an adult like hanging my clothes in my wardrobe or sewing a button, but then i'll suddenly have a burst of inspiration and i'll take on really large, unnecessary things like aesthetically rearranging my entire desk and dresser, or folding all of my skirts, shorts and pants into my drawers so i have enough space in my wardrobe for my tops! both of these are things i have accomplished in the past week, as well as my second blog post in 5 days, which must be some sort of record for me because i'm not used to having this much free time!

i also saw the legendary refused on tuesday night (this was before i was told i had pneumonia on wednesday) and even though i was feeling awful i would do it again! it's not often you get to see a hugely influential punk band that broke up in 1998 play a reunion show, and since i won't ever get to see them again it was well worth it, no matter how sick i got.

Collar Tips & Crystals

i'm excited to say that this weekend i'll be in melbourne visiting one of my best friends who moved there at the start of the year. although she has come back to visit several times this will be my first time going there since she moved, so i'm excited to see where she's living and spend time with her in the city that is now her home. my biggest problem is trying to decide what cameras to bring with me! this is the friend who witnessed me lugging three cameras around everywhere we went in europe (which caused the same hangbag to break twice!) right now i'm thinking of leaving my DSLR at home and going all analogue to lighten the load.

the collar tips you can see above were suuuper cheap on ebay so i bought them in both silver & gold. the little heart boat shoes, aptly named loveboat shoes (aka the cutest shoes IN THE WORLD), and which i also own in pink & mint, are from my beloved ASOS, where so much of my money goes. below is my ever growing record collection, my super cute lomography bag which is now sold out on ASOS, orly's nail polish in galaxy girl and some postcards of my favourite writers (and nick cave thrown in for good measure) that i bought months ago and finally put on my wall.

i finally got so fed up with the hideous pile of bandanas and scarves that was taking over my room because i was too lazy to store them properly, so i put my little wicker picnic basket to extremely good use! i also found the cutest shirt on ebay with little cowboys all over it, an awesome diana f+ tote bag, and some beautiful crystals (as well as several more not pictured) and a pretty little baby geode!

so i'll start by saying that my new nick cave & the bad seeds pillowcase has me looking forward to bed time a little more than usual! this post is pretty much just evidence of the amount of time i spend online shopping, but at least i have a lot of great clothes and an amazing vinyl collection.

i've come into quite a lot of make up and assorted beauty products lately. some is from a glossybox (items 6-9), some from an estee lauder sample pack that my mum got and some is from a corporate discount make up shop that i went to with my mum and my brother's girlfriend. my dad got access to it through his work and they have lots of brand name make up (MAC, estee lauder, clinique) for 30-40% or more off the retail price!

a tiny cuckoo clock, bullet bras, hedgehog brooches & bookmarks, liquid eyeliner in doll bottles, soft frilly bras with pearl detailing, a tiny pastel bicycle, a framed print of versailles, gingham bow headbands, a universe print skirt, a bolo tie to make me feel like a cowgirl, an ice cream print dress, a cupcake print peplum blouse and dachshund print capri pants(!!!)
